Best 11 Solutions to Create Your Private Label and Sell on Amazon FBA

it’s a complete guide on how to do private labels when you import from China, Learn the Best 11 Solutions to Create Your Private Label and Sell on Amazon FBA.

you know that private label is a key feature of products. It helps to market the product, attract the attention of customers, and allow customers to tell it apart from other brands. And, it provides product information such as ingredients, instructions, date of manufacture, etc.

Last year we supported more than one hundred clients from the U.S. They required our assistance to import from China and ship the goods to Amazon’s FBA center. Although most of them are new to online marketplace selling, they really attach importance to designing their own packaging and adding a private label to each product for branding strategy.

There are too many articles on the Internet telling people the advantages of private labeling, but no one shares their experience about “how to do Your Private Label”, or “how much Your Private Label costs” for private labeling products when importing from China.

As my team helped these new Amazon sellers add private labeling for products in various categories, we have derived 11 most common solutions for adding your label/logo on products in this article. You will learn many ideas about how to add own brand on products.

What is Private Label?

Best 11 Solutions to Create Your Private Label and Sell on Amazon FBA

A private label is the logo or pattern on products manufactured by a contract or third-party manufacturer and sold under a retailer’s brand, it represents the seller and helps build customer loyalty.

If you want to start a business that imports from China and sell on an online marketplace like Amazon, here’s the simplest and best way to do it: find a good product or a product niche with limited existing competitors, choose quality items from China, add a private label on the product, and start to market the product under your brand.

Private labeling is the best way for customers to distinguish your products from others. If your products are always built with high quality and good design, customers will pay higher prices and stay loyal to your brand. And of course, your margin will be way much larger than selling nationally branded goods or your supplier’s brand.

How to Private Label Your Product and Packaging

For most categories products, you can add a private label (your logo) on product body or packaging. I have concluded 11 main solutions for private labeling that my team has dealt with all kinds products for our clients, and they are listed in the above graphic.

The 5 solutions in the left part of this graphic are for adding your logo on the product. These solutions are applied to products made from different materials. The six solutions in the right side are ideas to add your private label on product packaging.

Below, I will introduce all 11 solutions clearly, and also let you know the estimated cost for each solution in China. By learning all of these, you will not be overcharged by Chinese suppliers, and you will get ideas about how to add private label on your products.

Solution 1: Screen Printing (or Silk Screen)

Screen printing is the most common and widely used method for adding a private label on both product body and packaging. It can be applied to products made from almost all kinds of materials such as: plastic toys, glass bottles, stainless cup, rubber dumbbell, etc. If you are buying more than 500pcs/item, screen printing is the easiest and cheapest way to add your private label.

Most Chinese factories can offer screen printing service for free if you can buy more than $2,000/item. Or they will charge you around $60 fee for creating printing plate of your logo, and around $0.02/product labor fee for printing. If the supplier doesn’t offer the service, you can easily find a printing supplier in China to do the job.

The only drawback of screen printing is that it’s not suitable for multi-colored patterns, especially gradient color design. If you want to print your gradient color logo on products, you have to think about thermal transfer. Or you need to find other solutions than printing.

Solution 2: Thermal Transfer (heat transfer printing)

Thermal transfer printing process is more complicate than silk printing and it requires a temperature range from 140℃ to 180℃. Therefore, it’s a little bit more expensive than silk printing and has some restrictions on materials. It’s applicable to ABS, PE, PP, EVA, leather, stainless steel, wood and glass etc.

If you have a really fancy pattern with gradient color, thermal transfer would be your best choice. Last year my team helped a domestic company in China to print their logo on nonwoven bag via thermal transfer. The cost is around $100 for creating the printing plate, and $0.04 printing fee for the 7x7cm size gradient color logo. You can use this case as reference.

Solution 3: Laser Printing / Engraving

Laser printing, or laser engraving, gives your product a rather high-quality appearance. If you take a good look in the market, you’ll see almost every gift store is filled by items with laser printed logo, words or patterns. Personally, I like buying a present with my friend’s name and a lovely sentence on it and laser engraving works perfectly for this purpose.

Usually it doesn’t require huge MOQ as there’s no need for platemaking. My supplier only charged me less than one dollar to laser my client’s logo on a stainless steel bottle sample two weeks ago. For mass production, it may cost you $0.01-$0.15/unit, depending on the quantity and size.

Solution 4: Molding

The solution molding is to make your private label in the product mold, which means the logo is there when the product comes out from the machine, and this solution can be applied to all plastic, rubber, or metal-made products.

The advantage of this solution is your private label looks more natural and is higher quality than printing, but the high cost is its primary disadvantage. Customizing your logo in a product mold means you need to change the supplier’s mold or even create a brand new mold. And you will absolutely not choose this solution when you are not buying a big quantity.

In my experience, there’s no extra cost to make the molding private label, but the factory will charge you a fee for changing mold or creating mold, and the price depends on the product. Usually, a mold for plastic items costs $1,000 to $3,000, and a mold for metal products needs $500 to $1,000.

Creating molds also needs 15 to 20 days, which means it takes much longer time than other solutions.

Solution 5: Machine Embroidery

Embroidery is mainly applied to items made of cloth, such as garments, caps and bags. It’s more durable and appears higher level comparing to silk printed logos, and there are no color fading problems with this solution. However, it costs more than screen printing0.

I prefer to sorting embroidery into two types. The first type is to embroider the logo directly on product (like the ARCTERYX on above picture). But it’s not quite suitable for very small and complex logos. By my experience, an embroidery like this in 4x5cm size is about $0.2.

The second type is to make a patch (like the right side of above image) and sew it on product. Normally the embroidery factories make these patches and sell them to garment manufacturers. This way allows multi-color and complicate patterns, such as football team badge, national flag, logo of motor corporation, etc. Most vendors have minimum order amount of $50. The unit price for a 5cm x 6cm logo with four colors is like $0.12.

Solution 6: Woven Label

Woven labels are mostly used for fabric made products such as bags, hats, jeans and shoes. It’ll be great to try to add your logo on a woven label for those products made of fabric or partially fabric.

The price is always related to label material, label size and order quantity. For a 2x4cm size woven label, unit price will be around USD0.1 and MOQ will be about 1,000PCS.

Solution 7: Sticker Label

Sticker label is absolutely the cheapest and simplest way of all the methods. To find a stick label supplier is very easy. Normally the MOQ is 3,000 for one design.

If you place order for 1,000 products but get 3000 pieces of sticker label with your logo, you can ask your product manufacturer to keep the remaining stickers for future orders and normally they will be happy to do it.

Solution 8: Paper Cardboard

If your budget for packaging is limited, you don’t want to spend $0.2 or $0.3 to make a box for your goods, and you don’t want to make stickers and devalue your product, then I think you may consider trying another option – paper cardboard. Print your private label and all other information on cardboard and pack your goods with it.

Paper cardboard is the best option for low-cost items like socks. It’s about $0.35 to buy a pair of socks from China, and the paper cardboard is around $0.03/pc.

Typically retailers prefer using paper cardboard for tools or kitchen products category because it enables customers to see the product easily. For example, the Lemon Sqeezer in the image above is packed with simple printed paper cardboard and costs around $0.08/pc.

Solution 9: Hang Tag

Hangtag is also one of the most economical ways to private label. It’s usually applied to categories like apparel, toys, tools, fashion jewelry, etc.

Many clothes and jewelry brands select the hangtag to present their label. Usually, it’s made of ivory cardboard or kraft, sometimes made of plastic or even metal. In fact, many people choose to use 300gsm ivory cardboard most because of its economical (the same material of most business card you get from Chinese trade shows).

Solution 10: Printed Poly Bag

This is actually a type of packaging. And it’s also a way to add private labels. Compared with another packing method, printed polybag is kind of simple for large quantity goods. As the printing plate is about $80/color, manufacturers usually demand tens of thousands as MOQ. If you are not planning to buy the product of this quantity, choosing other private label solutions will be much better.

Solutions 11: Customized Box

Making your own design and printing it on a customized box is suitable for almost all products. Surely it’s the most expensive solution among these 11 ways. A nice fancy box can easily make your product look great. It’s also a way to add extra value and sell at a higher price.

Box packaging is a very large industry. The price is related to different materials, techniques, and machinery. Take the cheapest box – corrugated case as an example, for 3000 pcs of 8”x4”x4” corrugated case with your pattern on it, the unit price is around $0.16. If you want to do a firm one like the iPhone box, it might cost you at least $0.75 each.

Ultimate Guide to Buying the Refrigerant Gas in China

Ultimate Guide to Buying the Refrigerant Gas

Most of us know and are familiar with the common refrigerant distributors rather it be Hudson, A-Gas, Aspen, Weirton, or whomever else. These names are seen everywhere within the industry and you’re most likely buying from one of them already.

That being said, another question that I see quite a bit that isn’t as covered is who are the refrigerant gas manufacturers behind these refrigerant gas distributors?
After all, these distributors have to get their products from somewhere.

What companies are out there and producing refrigerants? Which are the ones that are coming up with new classes of refrigerants or innovating existing refrigerants? A really big market right now, and one that will only be growing over the next few years, is safe and climate-friendly alternatives to R-22. With the phase-out coming in just a year and a half these refrigerant manufacturers and innovators will be playing a larger and larger role.

To start this article off I am going to be focusing on the larger refrigerant manufacturers. These are your giant corporations that have a very large percentage of the refrigerant market share. On top of that, these are the companies that you see coming out with new refrigerants or even whole new refrigerant classifications. They have a full research and development department and are always looking for newer and better alternative refrigerants.

Larger Refrigerant Manufacturers

Honeywell International

  • Speaking of gigantic corporations, number one on our list is Honeywell International. This company was founded over one hundred years ago in Wabash, Indiana. They originally made their start by creating one of the first thermostats all the way back in 1888. Today they have a global workforce of one-hundred and thirty-thousand employees.
  • They are one of the largest manufacturers of refrigerants across the globe with factories and plants in the United States as well as other countries. Their brand names are known as Genetron and Solstice. Genetron covers your most common refrigerants such as HFCs 134a, 404A, and 410A,R406A,R407C,R22,R141B.Solstice is the newer classification of refrigerants known as HFOs and includes 1234yf, N40, and N13.
  • Honeywell and Chemours combined take up a huge chunk of the market share when it comes to refrigerant sales. In fact, these two behemoth companies have teamed up with each other to further advance their new HFO product lines.

Arkema

  • Arkema is a refrigerant manufacturing company out of Colombes, France. (Just northwest of Paris.) They were founded in 2004 and have been growing ever since. Today, they are in fifty countries and have nineteen-thousand employees. Their total revenue in 2015 was 7.7 billion Euros. While they are not as big as Honeywell or Chemours they provide healthy competition to the two behemoths and help to keep them in check.
  • Arkema’s most famous refrigerant brand name is known as Forane. They offer a wide variety of refrigerants including the most popular HFC refrigerants that we use today such as R-134aR-410A, and R-404A.

China Refrigerant Gas Manufacturers

A good portion of the refrigerants that we use in the United States and across the world comes from China. If not the straight refrigerant such as R-22 coming then it’s the blends. A lot of the time you’ll see distributors importing in refrigerants needed in say, R-410A, and then they will mix the imported refrigerants at their facility to come up with the R-410A blend. While there is nothing wrong with this technique there are some companies out there who call this type of refrigerant ‘Domestic Product.’ This label gives the impression that the consumers are purchasing American-made products, which in fact they are not.

why buy from China Refrigerant Gas Suppliers

1. Compared with big European and American companies, Chinese prices are more advantageous

2. The price in the Middle East may be the lowest, but the quality is not as good as that in China

3. The China suppliers are relatively centralized. If you have large bulk orders, they can be delivered quickly

Conclusion

Well folks, In the next article we will explain how to Sourcing Refrigerants Gas from China

3 Ply ffp2 ffp3 face mask suppliers

(The 2nd layer is melt-blown,it’s the most important material to protect against viruses)

The melt-blown also varies greatly in quality ,so don’t just look for bargains, lower price mean fake!

3. Beware of low price trap. At present, many small plants produce with poor quality, because they do not have real melt-blown cloth.(As far as I know, this material is in short supply all over the world and is being purchased crazily by all over the world. therefore, this raw material is controlled by the government and even banned from export, so some factories use second-class products or low-cost substitutes.)

4. The suppliers on these lists are registered by the government, but they do not guarantee 100% good quality. You need to review one by one!

Because some suppliers have CE,FDA certification, some have no certificate at all, even if their products are of good quality, but now it takes 2 months to apply for the certificate, and the cost of the certificate has increased three times.

Note: Don’t complain about the poor quality of Chinese products, because the profit of the factory was squeezed by the big traders, buyers only pursue profit, crazy bargaining, the end customer is hurt, this is a vicious circle, and it is not what we want to see.

How To Import Chemicals From China 2021

Chemical sourcing is challenging, as you can’t tell the quality by the naked eye, as with other industries like toys or garments etc.. Factory visits are therefore encouraged before importing but then, which plants would one choose to visit?

The China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF; Beijing) shows that there are over 25,000 companies in the chemical industry. Weeding through the various companies makes it a difficult task to find the right supplier to work with. In this article I will share with you the basics of how to import chemicals from China. There are several options to start your sourcing journey:

1. Finding a Supplier

a. B2B Portals:

The most convenient way to find chemical related information is through b2b portals. The top chemical b2b portals are:

There is a lot of information that you need to scale down before getting any useful and related leads. You can filter supplier based on your preferences or using portal ranking criteria’s such as “gold supplier” etc. You can also use credit check services and supplier capability assessment services if offered by the portal. E.g. Global Sources or Alibaba’s Trade Assurance. Alibaba.com also now offers volume buyer services which some might find useful. I personally haven’t used this service. If you find this to be a tedious task, there’s the “lazy” way of getting quotations: by just “posting buying request”. This way, the portal matches your request to relevant companies in their platform. You can then just review quotations and if you are not happy with the results you might have to conduct the search yourself.

B2B portal sourcing is one of the routes and possibly the first step to sourcing. Depending on the communication with potential supplier you can then go ahead and arrange samples for testing. Be aware though that suppliers will obviously send you the best quality sample and that might not necessarily be representative of the final order. After testing the sample some buyers might go ahead and place an order, which can be very risky. I personally know people that have imported from China and never set foot in the country! More on this in future post.

b. Recommendation from Forums & Social media: Sharing is caring

Forums

These days people share information about everything. Although not the conventional way, you can still find a lot of relevant information esp. on forums. But beware that suppliers themselves might write some of those recommendations.

One trick I like to use is to check right away the company’s reputation on Google search “ company name+scam” or something similar to see if there are any fraud reports against the company or if the company has been blacklisted somewhere etc.

Also you can check the blacklist via www.fraudblacklist.com

Here are some forums and groups on LinkedIn that focus on China sourcing:

You can post inquiries and get advice from experienced forum participants.

Social Media

Most of the social media channels such as Google+, Facebook are blocked in China and not many suppliers use these.

c. Trade Shows

I personally consider attending trade shows not an efficient way to find chemicals suppliers or any other product for that matter in China. Its true that you get to see a lot of suppliers and merchandise under one roof, but without prior research one can get lost in all the confusion and excitement of such events. If possible, with proper planning, compile and research a list of manufactures from the exhibitor’s list. Based on positive preliminary due diligence you can then arrange to conduct face-to-face meetings at the trade shows. This way, you have an idea on suppliers’ capabilities beforehand. You can arrange 5 or even 10 suppliers on your list to verify their claims. Then follow up with factory visits of the top 3 suppliers. Incase the factories on your list don’t meet your criteria; you still have a chance to meet other suppliers at the trade show. Some tradeshow organizers can also arrange meetings on your behalf based on your needs.

The most popular tradeshow of course being the canton fair.

Canton Fair – Phase 1 is specifically focused on chemicals:

  • Inorganic: Chemicals, Acids , Oxygen Compounds, Halogen and Sulphur    Compounds
  • Organic Chemicals: Hydrocarbons and Their Derivatives
  • Agro – Chemicals: Pesticide, Herbicide & Fertilizers
  • Dyes and Pigments
  • Plastics
  • Rubber

d. Trading companies and efficiencies

The supplier selection journey can be quite cumbersome and costly. It may take weeks to months – depending on your experience. Dealing with a trading company can be a good option if you don’t have the resources and know how to invest in the complexities of monitoring your supply chain. The cost will be a little bit higher, about 5-10% compared to buying directly from the factory. The best trading company, among other things, are the ones with focus in a particular industry. Avoid jack-of-all-trades. I would recommend trading companies’ esp. if you’re sourcing more than one supplier. The company you select must have an in-depth knowledge of the Chinese chemical market.

Trading companies may add value in the following ways:

  • On-the-ground presence
  • Logistics
  • Project management
  • Quality inspection
  • Offer credit terms

e. China office.

Having China presence is ultimately these best way to source for chemicals long terms. Of course this only makes sense if you’re buying volumes in the millions of dollars.  Not to mention other challenges that comes with registering the company, staffing, taxes etc.

f. Trade data

Platforms like ImportGenius.com, Flexport.com , Panjiva and other competitors in this go a long way in screening suppliers.

2. The Next step – China Visit

Prior to your China visit you should do additional research and understand the price dynamics. This helps in negotiating prices.

Remember to bring along factory evaluation documents or scorecard and be preferably accompanied by an independent or in-house technical specialists. He/she must have an understanding of the production process and application of the chemicals.

Factory Evaluation Document or Scoreboard may include:

  • Profile and history of the company
  • Range of products and target markets
  • Test reports – Certificate of Analysis & (MSDS) sheets
  • Continuity of supply and support
  • Technical review of the manufacturing facilities
  • Quality control measures and procedures
  • ISO 9001-2000 certification

If your country of importation requires additional compliance document ask your supplier to show you previous reports of such. (E.g. EU – REACH compliance)

This procedure can be more involved depending on specific chemicals. Notwithstanding that some chemicals require export license that might delay the export procedure.

3. Contracts – English or Chinese

A lot has been covered the guys behind China Law Blog. But briefly, contracts can be in English & Chinese BUT “ If the contract is in two languages, the parties are free to choose which language will control. If the contract is in Chinese and in English and the parties do not specifically choose a governing language, a Chinese court or arbitration panel will take the Chinese version as controlling. If the contract is in English, then the court or arbitration panel will appoint a translator to do the translation. These translators are often not very good, which causes many problems in litigation/arbitration, since the case gets sidetracked in disputes about translation.”

The take away:

  1. Make the jurisdiction a Chinese court.
  2. Make the governing law Chinese law.
  3. Make the governing language Chinese.

4. Shipping & Logistics

As some chemicals are hazardous, great care should be taken when arranging a shipment. Not all shipping agents are familiar with handling hazardous cargo. It is also more expensive to ship chemicals than regular cargo. So you should shop around for the best freight rates or use tools such as FreightOs

How to import face masks and protective from China?

Covid-19,the virus back again 2021,looking for face masks, medical masks price and protective?

Therefore, the import of medical masks from China is a big topic. Factories in China are working at full capacity to cover unexpected demand.

Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the demand for medial masks increased immeasurably. The production of masks has quickened up, though there is a current shortage in some hospitals. There are also little to no masks for employees in the service industry. Most masks are made in China, in total at least 50% of global production

According to WHO recommendations, to protect oneself from the virus, one should wear the face mask if taking care of a sick person and gloves. You can find the information on How to import Nitrile Gloves from China in our other article.Importing medical masks from China

Masks Manufacturers in China

The import of medical masks from China – production areas

The largest production hubs of the surgical masks are in such Chinese cities as Wuhan, Ningbo, Suzhou, Guangzhou, and Hefei. Mask materials are manufactured mainly in four provinces: Guangdong, Zhejiang (Xialu), Hubei (Xiantao), and Fujian. Pengchang, located in Xiantao, is known as the “capital of fibers.”

It was estimated that up to 22 million masks were manufactured in China per day before the pandemic. As the demand increased, the factories intensified the production of masks, reaching 200 million per day. Besides, manufacturers from other industries have opened their production lines, contributing to increased supply. The masks are available in various sizes and colors; the standard ones are blue and white.

Virgil Abloh Celebrate Louis Vuitton Sunglasses SS20 Collection

Virgil Abloh has spotlighted the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2020 collection in a new set of campaign imagery titled “Footprints,” and themed around “Man’s positive impact on the planet.” The campaign was shot in Tangier and Chefchaouen in Morocco by photographer Viviane Sassen, with four subsequent sets of imagery set to focus on other continents around the world.

Flowers represented a key theme of the collection — which made its debut during Paris Fashion Week in June 2019 — with this motif celebrated throughout the campaign. This motif is described as a “naturally occurring metaphor for multiplicity” and is pictured alongside the models and talent, all of whom were scouted locally in Morocco.

Other motifs in the campaign nod to the theme of boyhood, which has been the ongoing reference in Abloh’s Louis Vuitton collections. This idea is marked through ideas including kite-flying, flower-picking, and summers at the beach. These memories of childhood are described as “universally relatable,” with Louis Vuitton going on to explain that they “serve to bind us together in all our diversity across counties, countries, and continents.”
